Gilmer County’s school board reviewed 16 superintendent applications on October 1 and planned to begin interviews this month, according to an October 2 district update. A second round may follow for the strongest candidates.
The search began in August with Georgia Leadership Associates assisting the board. Applications closed September 25. An online survey drew responses from 489 community members and district employees, giving board members public input as they reviewed candidates.
The district says it will announce its selected finalist at least 14 calendar days before a hiring vote and release that person’s application documents for public review. The October 2 update described the selection process rather than announcing a hire.
