Downtown Ellijay’s Merry Mountain Town festival is set for Friday, Nov. 27, with the holiday event running from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Downtown Ellijay Welcome Center, 10 Broad St. The Gilmer Chamber lists it as the second annual celebration, giving families a fixed date and place to plan around before Thanksgiving weekend.
The day’s lineup centers on shopping and family activities on Broad Street, plus a parade and tree lighting later in the evening. The chamber’s schedule puts decorating contest voting from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the parade at 6 p.m. and the tree lighting at about 6:30 p.m.
Organizers say visitors can start by picking up a map and event guide at the Downtown Welcome Center. Santa photos for families and pets will be offered for a $10 donation that benefits Friends of Gilmer Animal Shelter.
