GBI investigates officer-involved shooting on Yukon Road in Ellijay
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says a 911 domestic-dispute call on Yukon Road led to an officer-involved shooting in Ellijay on Oct. 16. One Ellijay man was injured, no officers were hurt, and the case remains under investigation.

What the GBI says happened
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation issued an Oct. 17 update on an officer-involved shooting in Ellijay that it says started with a 911 domestic-dispute call on Yukon Road the day before. The agency says the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office asked it to take over the investigation. The call was reported at a home in the 2000 block of Yukon Road.
According to the GBI, deputies arrived at the home and encountered Rickey Neil Gary in the yard. The agency says Gary grabbed a rifle from his truck, did not comply with commands to drop the gun, and exchanged gunfire with deputies before running into the woods around the home.
What is confirmed now
The GBI says Gary came out of the woods at about 3:40 p.m. and was taken into custody without further incident. He was taken to an area hospital and was reported in stable condition.
The agency says no officers were injured, and the investigation remains active and ongoing.
